Spring Hill girls golf team sends three to state tournament

SALINA - Senior Gianna Cowsert, junior Rylan Laws and sophomore Kinsley Miller represented the Spring Hill Lady Broncos in the Class 5A state golf tournament.Cowsert, Laws and Miller qualified for state with their performances in the Class 5A regional at Brookridge Golf Course.Miller came close to qualifying for the second round at state.It was the first time in years Spring Hill had qualified a girls golfer for state, and this season the Lady Broncos sent three players.The Class 5A girls state golf tournament was held at the Salina Municipal Golf Course on Monday, Oct.

Pair of late turnovers cost Panthers in 42-21 loss on senior night

PAOLA – The Paola Panthers played a hard-nose game of football, coming up short against the Eudora Cardinals on senior night.It was a one-point game, 21-20, until five minutes to play when Paola turned the ball over twice, and Eudora capitalized with two touchdowns to post a 42-21 victory.Prior to kickoff, the Paola Panthers recognized seniors Lane Berry, Ryckert Cole, JJ Crawford, Samuel Dixon, Lucas Forrest, Karter Kauf, Jace Kerley, Jasper Logan, Xander Meinig, Chevez Neely, Evan Reitinger, Hank Robison, JD Troutman and Kayden Worthey.Paola quarterback Japser Logan had one of the finest games of his prep career, throwing the ball for 115 yards and three touchdowns.Running back JD Troutman made his return to the lineup from an injury and led the team in rushing.

Broncos defeat Wildcats by one point, 14-13, to claim Frontier League title

LOUISBURG – For the third year in a row, the Frontier League football championship came down to a week eight meeting between the Louisburg Wildcats and the Spring Hill Broncos.Spring Hill rallied from a six-point second half deficit to beat Louisburg at Wildcat Stadium, 14-13, winning the league crown.The Louisburg Wildcats were the defending league champions, defeating Spring Hill two years in a row for the title.Both teams scored touchdowns on their opening possessions of the game.
