‘Your Life Matters’ focuses on Suicide Prevention Month

When I saw the “Continue” T-shirts at the front of the entrance to the Louisburg High School gymnasium for the Lady Cat volleyball team’s showdown against the Frontier League rival Ottawa Cyclones, I was curious what it was all about.Then I saw the back of one of the T-shirts that read “Your Life Matters.”I stopped senior organizer Addy Stohs at the events table and asked her what the evening was about.It was for Suicide Prevention Month held in September.Seeing everything that Stohs, the Louisburg volleyball team, the administration and community did to draw awareness to suicide during Suicide Prevent Month made me smile.

Louisburg Wildcats hold on to roll to 3-0

LOUISBURG – The defending Frontier League champion Louisburg Wildcat football team ran its record to 3-0 with a 23-15 victory against Clay Center.Clay Center struck first, taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.Louisburg quarterback Alex Saad threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Myles Vohs who dove for the pylon for six points with 21 seconds left in the half.The game was knotted up, 7-7, at the intermission Friday, Sept.

Troutman scores 19 points for Paola in homecoming heartbreaker

PAOLA – JD Troutman returned an interception for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown, kicked a field goal and four extra-point attempts, scoring 19 points for the Paola Panthers against the Ottawa Cyclones on homecoming.The Panthers looked well on their way to notching their first win of the season, scoring late in the second quarter on a quarterback sneak by Jasper Logan for a 27-14 advantage at the half.Troutman’s field goal in the fourth quarter made it a 16-point game, 37-21, with 9:03 left on the clock.Ottawa rallied, scoring 20 unanswered points.
