Jerry Lee Medlin of Baldwin City, Kansas died on January 1, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was in Hospice care in Ottawa, Kansas at the time of his death. He was 83 years old. Jerry was born on January 13, 1941.
Jerry Lee was the 6th son of Pierce James and Edith Bennett Medlin of Hillsdale. Jerry was the 9th child of 13 children born to them. He wanted to enlist in the Vietnam War with the Army but broke his leg a couple of weeks ahead of time, and was unable to serve.
Jerry moved to California and spent time there with his brother Benjamin. They were very close. Jerry was an entrepreneur starting several businesses both in California and in Kansas. He liked to tinker on and fix lawnmowers and also sold trash barrels from his home outside of Baldwin City.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Pierce and Edith Medlin and siblings: Manual Medlin, Warren Medlin, Walter Medlin, Ben Medlin, Bob Medlin, Nadine Feris, and Darline Medlin.
Jerry is survived by his sisters Jane Oliver (James) Blanche Stephens, Mary Burns, Lorraine Roth, and Margie Wiltse (John).
Jerry Lee also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service held on March 1, 2025, at 1 pm in Hillsdale at the Hillsdale Hall.
