His creativity and curiosity found expression in many forms, especially through photography and metalworking. He spent countless hours in his workshop immersed in projects. His family will always remember the time he dedicated to his hobbies, and how much he loved being busy.
John was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Lillian Sturis, and his siblings Donald and Karin Sturis. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Susan Sturis of Paola; children Ahn Marie Seese (Clay) of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Steven Sturis of Austin, Texas; his brother, Jeff Sturis of Florida; and four grandchildren, Lauren and Kyle Seese, and Truman and Soleil Sturis.
In keeping with John’s wishes, his family will honor his spirit with a private scattering of his ashes. Memorial contributions may be made to Ascend Hospice of Overland Park, Kansas, or Habitat for Humanity, a cause John deeply supported.
John’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and the countless stories he shared, each told with laughter, heart, and a bit of wonder.
