JUDITH BLACKBURN

Judith A. Spitzenberger Blackburn age 83 of Lane, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 12th, 2024, at the Olathe Hospice House. Judy was born on July 15th, 1941, in Osawatomie, Kansas to James and Alta Barnes Spitzenberger and was followed two years later by her brother Donald. The family moved to Paola where Judy attended school, graduating from Paola High School in 1959. Ronald Blackburn captured Judy’s heart and the couple were united in marriage February 10th, 1962, making their home in Paola and welcoming daughter Leslie in 1967, and son Randy in 1972. Judy loved becoming a mother, homemaker and enjoyed gardening and canning.

She read the scripture daily and shared her faith and love for Christ by teaching lady’s bible classes, children’s programs and being a camp counselor. Her strong glorious Alto voice could be heard each Sunday at Plum Creek South Church of Christ where she was a lifelong member. Judith worked as office manager for her daughters Preschool and Daycare Center “Kreative Korner” from 1994, until the business closed in 2021. The couple sold their Paola home in 2007 and moved to Lane, Kansas where Judy lived until her passing. Judy is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and many other loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Ronald of the home in Lane, daughter, Leslie Blackburn Windler of Lane, son, Randy Blackburn of Paola, brother, Donald Spitzenberger (Leslie) of Osawatomie, four grandchildren, Eric Windler (Taylor) of Olathe, Kaleb Blackburn of Paola, Lexi Miller of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, Devon Welch of Hutchinson, Kansas and four great granddaughters, Rylan 6, Kinley 3, Lena 14, and Charleigh 10. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
