MALCOLM SIMS

 Known for his huge heart and sweet, loving nature, Malcolm Sims passed away at his home on December 11, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Cleveland, Missouri on May 11, 1942, to parents Grace and Cecil Sims. Upon graduation from Midway High School in 1960, he settled into a successful career working for employers like AT&T and Culligan for many years. At AT&T, Malcolm provided solutions that saved the company millions annually, where he was recognized as an innovator and received many awards & corporate trips for his accomplishments. He was a wonderful provider and loved his family dearly.
 Sims is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Joan of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sister Sandy Patterson, son Bobby (Rhonda) Hummel; son Chris (Gina) Sims, son Keith Sims; daughter Michelle (Paul) Weigand; stepdaughter Amy Borchers; stepson Jeff (Kelly) Limpic, stepson Brian (Elizabeth) Limpic; and his grandchildren Heather, Clayton, Blake, Lance and Grace Sims, Jake and Seth Sims; and step-grandchildren Jessica and Taylor Borchers, Dylan and Dylanie Limpic, and Leo Limpic. Great grandchildren Aiden and Bryce Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rowena (Cleary) Sims, brother Bob Sims; and sister Clarisse Carlson.
 Throughout his life, Sims was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt quail, horseback ride, motorcy­cles and taking long walks on nature trails with his wife, Joan. He had many wonderful dogs over the years, and especially loved his favorite horse named Stoney. He was a huge sports fan. He never missed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. The joy he felt watching his beloved Chiefs win back-to-back Superbowls was amazing for him and his family to share with him.
 A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at West Line Christian Church, 300 N Main Street West Line, Missouri. A private burial with family will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Parkin­son’s Foundation.
