Norman Harold Lancaster

Funeral services for Norman Lancaster were held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Alva Church of God with Pastor Sheryl White officiating.

Burial followed in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There was a visitation with family present from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024.

Norman Harold, son of the late Mont Emery and Pearl Alma (Kern) Lancaster, was born May 16, 1940, at Cleveland, Missouri, and passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at Alva, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 7 days.

Norm attended Centennial Grade School in Louisburg and later attended Louisburg High School. He graduated from American School in Louisburg, Kan­sas. He then went to the State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri and Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. He drove a truck for Ross Truck Lines in Paola, Kansas for a few years. He was united in marriage to Judy Zink in 1959 and together they had two children, Randy and Rhonda.

On June 24, 1977, he was united in marriage to Twyla J. Marmon in Louisburg, Kansas, and her five children became his own. They lived in Emporia, Kansas before moving to Alva, Oklahoma in 1980. Norm worked for Panhandle Eastern for 37 years. He started out mowing grass and worked his way up through the company, retiring as Area Superintendent. After his retirement he started Norm’s Home Repair and utilized his amazing carpentry skills working along side his long-time friend and ornery side kick, Mallory Seevers. He then worked with family at Bouziden Brothers & Sons, fulfilling his love of farming, driving 4-wheel drive tractors and combines.

He attended the First Baptist Church and later the Church of God in Alva. Norm was a longtime member of the Alva Masonic Lodge #105, recently receiving his 50 year pin. He also served as Past Master and served 2 terms as District Deputy Grand Master. He was in charge of numerous fundraisers for the Lodge. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed restoring antique cars and tractors. He and Twyla enjoyed bowling, camping, and collecting antiques. He loved his chil­dren and grandchildren very much and was extremely proud of them.

Besides his parents, Mont and Pearl, he was welcomed into heaven by his wife, Twyla; his grandsons, Colby Bouziden and Trevor Martin; and his sister, Lois Matney.

Norm is survived by his children, Randy Lancaster of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Rick Obermeier of Paola, Kansas, Rhonda Thompson and husband, Scott, of Vian, Donna Bouziden and husband, Chris, of Alva, Debbie Boyers and husband, Mike, of Paradise, Texas, Diane McAlpin and husband, Jeff, of Alva, and Darcie Obermeier of Alva; one brother, Jim Lancaster and wife, Nancy, of Louisburg, Kansas; two sisters, Peggy Taylor and husband, Rick, of Apache Junction, Ari­zona, and Betty Kueser of Overland Park, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Masonic Lodge #105.
