RICK WALKER

6/22/1955 – 7/14/2025

Rick Walker, age 70, originally of Paola, KS and a graduate of Paola High School in 1973, passed away on July 14, 2025 in Overland Park, KS. Born on June 22, 1955, Rick lived a life full of adventure, generosity, and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Bea Walker; his children, Katie and Brad Walker.
Rick is survived by his beloved son Tanner Walker and daughter-in-law Emily; cherished grandchildren Gage Orr and Hazel Walker; and great-grandson Hudson Orr. He is also remembered with love by his sister Pat Shaffer (Ben); brother Tom Walker (Sandy); and sister Jacky Butler (Greg); Jamie Haughton and Todd Bolton. He was deeply loved by his nieces and nephews: Brian, Will, Lee, Melissa, Jenny, Christine, and Kelsey. Plus many more grandnieces and nephews.
Rick worked at PEMCO, Inc in Paola for many years before becoming the proud owner of Walker Equipment and was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Outside of work, Rick had a zest for life that was truly contagious. He was always up for celebrating life’s events, small or large! He loved traveling, especially to Sarasota, and was always on the hunt for the best tenderloin sandwich in town. A regular on the Las Vegas strip, he lit up every blackjack table he sat at with his joy and enthusiasm. One of his greatest joys was cheering on his granddaughter Hazel at her ball games and attending her school plays. He proudly displayed her artwork, framed, throughout his home.
Rick’s favorite quote captured his spirit perfectly:
“Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well-preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘Wow! What a Ride!’”
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Kidney Fund.
He will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered by all who knew and loved him.
