Roy Elmer Debrick, 86, rural Paola, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.

A private service will be held graveside at Miami County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Paola, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will occur 1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Marysville Township Hall, Hillsdale, Kansas.

Roy was born on September 26, 1937, in Centerville, Kansas, Linn County to Frank Elmer and Ruby Lavern (Rihard) Debrick. His family moved to Wagstaff, Kansas where Roy attended a one-room school that still stands on family property. After graduating from Paola High School in 1955, he briefly attended Kansas State University before returning to the family farm.

Roy served eight years in the Army National Guard, 135th Infantry Regiment and 127th Field Artillery Battalion, receiving honorable discharge in 1963. On November 15, 1959, Roy married Bonnie Brocker in the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church where Roy was a member. He devoted his life to farming  raising wheat, corn, soybeans, and cattle. He was a fixture in the Hillsdale community and a founding member of the Hillsdale Ruritan Club.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and sister Virginia Kern. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home; daughter Carrie (Larry) Stricker, Gardner, Kansas; son Bradley (Tim) Debrick, Overland Park, Kansas; sister Lena (Dave) Christie, Paola, Kansas and grandchildren Aubrie Stricker and Anthony Stricker.
