She graduated from Paola High School in 1971. She spent most of her employment years in the courier/delivery industry; 17 years in payroll and accounting at Flexfleet Couriers in Kansas City, MO and almost 20 years as a customer service representative at Boyd/Total Delivery Systems in Westwood, KS.
Sheryl was an avid reader and was always buying and reading new books. She enjoyed movies and TV shows and especially liked science fiction, adventure, and crime stories. She liked travelling to out of the way towns to shop at flea markets and antique stores and also liked trying out different restaurants. One of her favorites was Chicken Annies near Pittsburg, KS. When the Middle Creek Opry south of Louisburg was open for 13 years she and her husband, Mike, were there almost every weekend to enjoy the great country music shows they featured. When she was younger Sheryl also liked riding with Mike on their motorcycle with other couples on day trips and out of town overnight trips. Sheryl especially enjoyed the friendships she shared with several of the ladies in her neighborhood, having coffee with them, going out to eat with them, or getting together with them and their families at each other’s homes for a potluck dinner. She was very attached to her two cats, Mitzi and Linus, and treasured them like they were her grandchildren.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William (Bill) Stringham, and her stepson Jeremy Giebler. Survivors include her husband, Michael Giebler of the home; daughters Cheralyn (Jon) Jevne of Paola, KS; Brandy (Gary) Pearce also of Paola, and stepsons Nicholas (Mandy) Giebler of Spring Hill, KS, and Norman Giebler of Warrensburg, MO, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Brenda (Martin) Janzen of Oakley, KS, Shelli (Bill) Barnes of Paola; 2 brothers, Rob Stringham of Paola, Steve (Jill) Stringham of Paola; several nieces and nephews and other relatives, and various friends.
The family extends a heartfelt “Thank you” to all the doctors, nurses, and first responders who were involved with Sheryl during her illness, and to the neighbors who helped with chores around the house and bringing over home cooked meals, and especially to both daughters who spent considerable time taking care of her at home and taking her back and forth to numerous doctor appointments.
It was Sheryl’s wish not to have a funeral service but, instead, to be cremated and for her family and friends to have a celebration of life, to be determined later. Cremation arrangements by Reflections Memorial Services, Kansas City, MO
