KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Spring Hill Broncos placed second in the Butch Foster Memorial held at Community America Ball Park, home of the Kansas City T-Bones.
Spring Hill lost a one-run game, 4-3, against Bonner Springs in the championships Saturday, April 27.
The Broncos led 2-1 in the second inning and 3-2 after five innings. Bonner Springs kept coming back, scoring one run in the sixth and one in the seventh to hold on for the 4-3 victory.
Zade Barker and Barret Gardner doubled for the Spring Hill Broncos. Barker doubled and scored two runs. Gardner doubled and drove in one run.
Tyson Cheatham singled twice and drove home two runs. Alex Johnson had two base hits and scored. Jordan Smith, Colby Stewart and Jake Scoma singled.
Garrin Jackson started the game, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. He took the loss.
Kobe Scrivner and Smith pitched in relief.
Corbyn Meyers and Barker doubled in a 10-3 victory against Basehor-Linwood on Friday, April 26.
Meyers singled, doubled and drove home two runs. He also had a sacrifice.
Barker had three base hits, drove in two runs and scored.
Scoma had two base hits, drove home three runs and scored. Stewart singled twice, drove in one run and scored two runs.
Caleb Phal singled. Seth Hays, Cheatham, Johnson and Smith scored.
Gardner pitched the complete game, allowing three runs on three hits. He struck out seven.
Spring Hill opened the tournament with a 5-4 victory against Perry on Thursday, April 25.
Scoma singled, doubled and drove in two runs.
Barker drove in one run. Stewart singled and scored. Cheatham walked and scored two runs. Gardner walked and scored.
Logan Greenhaglh started the game, giving up three runs on two hits in two innings.
Jackson allowed one run on four hits in three innings.
Scrivner pitched two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one base hit.
